Ok... seriously? I knew that some- where out in Penn- sylvania, on February 2nd every year, some people get really excited about a rodent I usually view as a nuisance. I also knew that people across the country base a major superstition on the actions of this rodent. But when I went to the weather channel today (because I was hoping the next inevitable snowstorm would be sometime this coming week), I happened across a video of the whole groundhog event, which I did not know was a camera-worthy event.
You mean to tell me that my whole life, men in Pennsylvania have been dressing up one day a year in "tuxedos," gloves, and top hats in order to proclaim from a scroll the actions of a large garden pest, and I am only finding out about it now? And why does the guy holding Phil look like Bill Engvall?
And phooey on him, he predicted an early spring, which everyone cheered about, which means I, by force of nature, must disagree with the "incrowd" and hope for six more weeks of winter.
