gas prices

I'll admit... my heart leaps a little when I see that the local gas station near me has dropped its prices to $3.65 (from $3.97). I've always loved them because they do have the cheapest gas around excluding Raceway (but I don't go to Raceway... my car doesn't like the gas there) and when everyone else went over $4/ gallon, Mr. Thrifty Gas made it a point not to (probably because you pay the same whether you use cash or credit).

And I'll also admit, I have at times called Anissa or Steve before visiting Nanuet or New Brunswick to find out the price of gas where they are... should I fill up here, or wait?

But I do have to say, I like the ideas in this article. I also, on occasion, have to drive on 287 during rush hour. And when gas was over $4/ gallon in places, "rush hour" meant there were enough cars on the road that crazy people had to slow down to 70 rather than their usual 80 (speed limit on 287 is 65, 55, then back to 65). I like it when less people drive. Seriously, our gas is not taxed as heavily as in other countries, we do pay less than other people, the Brits are still envious of our gas prices (I know, I talked to one!), and it is possible to get by despite high gas prices. You just have to know how to make a budget. See my August 8, 2008 rant on that.

I think gas prices hit Americans hard because most of them don't know how to manage their finances or do simple math.

Ok. Thats all. End rant.
