house parable revisited

I'm not saying this is necessarily the truth. But what if the house has a built in security system, so in a sense, its not that I disable it, its that I choose not to hear the alarms. It puts a lot more responsibility on me. If robbers steal everything and burn the house, its my own darn fault. I guess it was that way to begin with, but wording it this way seems like a much stronger way of putting it. I don't know if I like that or not.
