cravings...

So, I mentioned briefly in my rant that I am fasting for lent. I am not going to talk much about it because its mostly God stuff... what He's doing in my life right now. But I think you might be interested in the effect it has had on me. It has triggered the strangest cravings in me, and not all of them are food cravings.

First it was sushi. Then I found my mouth watering at something I would never ordinarily want: onions, peppers, and beef from Schezuan Express. Then, I had a craving to take a road trip to Baltimore. Then it was an irrational anti-craving: "If anyone makes me get on an airplane today, I am going to come down with the flu!" Yesterday I was craving a trip to see the Nutcracker Ballet (live, not on video). Today, it was fond memories of dining hall food (specifically the chicken cheese steaks, and more specifically, the bread it comes on), oh wait, I have a new one coming in: rolled oats. Not oatmeal, just oats...

You might think that I am having these cravings because of something deficient in my diet, but I am pretty sure it is not. Most of the things on that list contain proteins, but I have been making sure to consume the recommended daily 48 grams of proteins for my body weight. Besides, Baltimore, ballet, and airplanes don't have proteins.

Anyway, just an interesting note about what's happening to me. I find it fascinating... I hope you aren't too bored by it.

Interesting...

What was the inspiration for giving up solid food for lent?

I'm not sure... It sort of just popped into my head... I guess it might partially be due to the fact that I had a blend-tec blender available to borrow. But because I am trying to stay active with jujitsu, and because of a three-day convention I will be going to, I wanted to be able to have some time where I could eat solid foods, just to be sure I don't pass out on the mat, hence the "solids between 6pm and midnight" rule.
