Continuing a song/poem I wrote years ago

The little girl sits in her window seat
Trying to dry her eyes.
She doesn't know how long she'll be
Staring up at the sky.

Surrounded by those old teddy bears
She looks again down the lane.
She doesn't know how long she's been there
But nothing much has changed.

Chorus: Where is it? Where is he?
Why is she still there in the night?
Who cares why she is there?
When will someone notice her plight?

A hand to her face and she grabs a tear
Threatening to fall.
A fairy tale brings a gripping fear
That nothing's there at all.

And like Mr. Bear, time fades her dream
Of that long lost myth.
Yet again the bear smothers her scream
and he hears another wish.

Chorus

"Why does life have to be so hard?"
But Teddy holds his gaze.
"And how on earth did I make it this far,
And why did it happen this way?"

She gazes off to the Eastern sky,
and dawn will be here soon.
She takes a deep breathe and she wipes her eyes,
and maybe he'll be here soon.
